Stability :Unstable in air due to slow oxidation to tin(IV) oxide. At 300°C this oxidation

proceeds incandescently. Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents. Reacts with acids and with strong bases.Insoluble in water.

Uses: It is used in enamels and electromagnetic materials, and in the manufacture of opal glass, tin salts, porcelain colorants, mordants and weighting agents for fabrics, polishing agents for steel and glass, etc.
